We all want to look and feel better. For those of us that have been on a lifelong health journey we know how time consuming and difficult it can be. Life happens. Jobs, kids, parents, daily stresses, health struggles, menopause etc. Finding time to exercise and eat healthy are the 2 biggest hurdles I have heard from clients and friends-and I agree. Over the years I have found small cheats that improve the nutritional quality of a meal with minimal effort. Here are some of my favourite, easy examples.

chia in everything. Easy, tasteless, high fiber. Throw them in store bought muffin mix, pudding, greek yogurt, pancakes, the list goes on and on

Pumpkin seeds, a few tablespoons in salad, on top of rice, on top of a bagel, on top of your cottage cheese, adds texture and crunch and most importantly ups the nutritional value of your meal

Ground flaxseed has been my go to cheat for years. Great in smoothies, yogurt parfaits, soups, add to any baked goods, and my favourite place to add is to sauces. Puréed tomato or veggie based sauces with a few tablespoons of flax increase nutritional with minimal effort

Eating well doesn't necessarily mean eating perfectly. Brownie craving? Go for it but watch your calories and add a healthy cheat, you will feel better about indulging.
